PERSONA INFORMATION

NAME:

Remember that the Pernese have a tradition of blending the parents' names to create a child's name.
If you're looking for inspiration, check out our Name Generator Links

AGE AS OF:
IMPORTANT! USE THIS PAGE TO FIGURE OUT BIRTH SL/TURN and RL Birthdate!

Don't you hate having to figure out what year a character should have been born? Now you don't have to!
Tell us how old he or she is, tell us when his or her birthday is, and we'll figure it out for you!

NOTE:
If you ever edit the persona sheet, do NOT change the numbers you enter here or it will goof up the age you see on the Report.

CHARACTER TYPE:
If this is the first character you've ever submitted, choose "PC."
If you don't know what these different designations mean by the time you're submitting your severalth character,
ask one of the BOD members.

DEATH DATE:
Leave this blank until your character croaks.

CURRENT LOCATION:
Please use proper capitalization and check your spelling when you enter this information.
Acceptable locations within Dawnsisters Territory include:
    • Dawnsisters Weyr
    • Dawnsisters Hold
    • Alpha Hold/Base
    • Omega Hold Proper
    • The Lodge at Omega
    • Aiel Hold
    • Cibola Hold
    • Delta Hold
    • New Ista Hold
    • The Dark Star
    • Des Collines Cothold
    • Star Cove Cothold
    • Save Haven Cothold
For other locations, again, check your spelling. Benden Weyr and Ruatha Hold are off limits.
Do NOT use abbreviations. (i.e. DSW/DSH)

RANK:
If you're not sure, take your best guess from the options in the dropdown

RELATIONSHIP STATUS:
If your relationship status is "It's Complicated," please choose "Single" for now. ;)

SPOUSE/SIBLING/CHILDREN/PARENTS NAMES:
You can make Names link to their on Persona Sheet! All you have to do is first, navigate to the persona's sheet, copy the url that is in the address bar
THEN, if in one of the 'text editor big boxes' type the Name then use the link icon and paste the URL you copied into the pop up... be sure you take the 'http://' off of what you paste in, the editor auto puts that in.
For the Spouse/Mother/Father smaller text boxes: again navigate to the persona's sheet, copy the url that is in the address bar
THEN, go back to your form and type then type the NAME then type
Now the Spouse/Parent name is a link!

It is also a GREAT idea to put your Persona's childrens BIRTHDATES (TT.MM.DD) by their names, it's also a good idea to note pets & dragon names WITH birth/hatch dates (TT.MM.DD) in the Timeline section at the bottom! It's also a good idea to note what AGE your character was AT Impression in either 'Timeline' or 'Short History' section (it helps us know sparky is working correctly! and avoids LOTS of Headaches for Lindsay!)
APPEARANCE

HEIGHT:
Average for a Pernese female is 5'10", average for a Pernese male is 6'2".
Because we've been inundated with very short characters lately, no characters shorter than 5'8" are currently being approved.
If being short is DESPERATELY important to you, we can talk.

WEIGHT:
Remember that dragonriders will be a bit heavier because they have a pretty good set of muscles.

EYE COLOR:
Like short characters, we've had a huge influx of characters with green and grey eyes.
Please consider blue or brown for now?

HAIR COLOR:
Another recently overused favorite is red hair.
More than half our characters currently have red hair, which is statistically frightening.
Please consider being a good old fashioned blonde, or brunette?

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Elaborate to your heart's content!

PERSONALITY

PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Remember that interesting characters have flaws.
Items that are overdone: feeling compassion for or being adored by animals of all kinds, having a very short temper.

HOBBIES:
If your character is a crafter, the hobby should probably be something different than the craft. Otherwise, be creative.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

PLACE OF BIRTH:
  • The Weyr has only been in existence since Turn 25 (1999RL), Dawnsisters Hold since Turn 24 (1998RL) and Alpha Base/Hold since Turn 23 (1997RL).
  • Aiel and Cibola Holds have been populated for about 40 turns/years, though originally they were not much more than trader camps.
Keep this in mind if you want your character to be born in the area.
Please do not abbreviate location names.

MOTHER:
The Pernese traditionally blend the names of the mother and the father to create the child's name.
Also, remember that Mirrim is the oldest female greenrider in our timeline, and women did not commonly begin to impress greens for quite awhile after that. Your character's mother cannot be a greenrider unless she is not much older than 30.

MOTHER'S RANK:
Remember that Mirrim is the oldest female greenrider in our timeline, and women did not commonly begin to impress greens for quite awhile after that. Your character's mother cannot be a greenrider unless she is not much older than 40.

FATHER:
The Pernese traditionally blend the names of the mother and the father to create the child's name.
Even if your character does not know his or her father, you must fill this field in because it is important for you to know, as the writer.

FATHER'S RANK:
If you make your character's father a bronzerider, keep in mind that you may not be able to include him much in stories.
Writing for bronzeriders is something our writers have to earn. It may be easier to put him on a different color or think of a different vocation for him.

SIBLINGS:
Unlike parents, it isn't vital that we know everything about your character's siblings. Feel free to give as much or as little information about them as you like, though at the very least you should probably know how many there are. Be careful making them ranking characters, since that may be difficult to get approved.

SHORT HISTORY:
When we say "short," we actually mean tell us all about it! We love details and description.
Especially remember to explain how and why your character decided to come to Dawnsisters Territory.
  • Please do not have a new character arrive at the Weyr (Holds are okay) before the disasters in Turn 30 (July, 2004) because we've established that the characters who were active at that time were the only characters in residence. A transfer any time after that is fine.
  • If your character is at a Hold, remember that Alpha Base/Hold was established in Turn 23 (1997RL) Dawnsisters Hold has only been established since Turn 24 (1998RL), Omega since Turn 26 (2000RL), New Ista Camp since Turn 30 (2004RL), and Delta since Turn 31 (2005RL). Aiel and Cibola Holds have been around in some form for about 40 Turns, but started out as little more than trader camps.
For more information, please read the Weyr History page. There is tons of valuable information in there which will save you all sorts of effort on potential revisions.

CRAFT RANK:
General education sees that Apprentices become Journeymen at 16.
  • If you're not sure what rank is appropriate to your character's age, start by thinking about it in terms of education on Earth.
  • Master status on Pern is roughly equal to having a Master Degree on earth for many professions.
  • Becoming a healer would be about the same as becoming a doctor on earth. Then add a couple extra years because often, the educational system on Pern isn't quite as streamlined as it is on Earth, plus there is much more focus on hands-on experience before rank is given.
  • Next, consider your character's situation. Having a family during training, or having more or less ambition will affect how long it takes to attain each new level of skill.
  • Cross-crafting is an option for dragonriders, though it will add at least 4+ years to the training schedule, while your character cares for his or her dragon and all dragonriding duties at the same time.
  • It is not uncommon for someone to remain a Journeyman for his or her entire life.
The following have no 'craftrank', but in the 'main rank' (up in persona info section) put 'Holdless' for Pirates, 'Staff' for the others
Pirate
Cook
For those employed at The Lodge:
General/main rank is 'Staff'
'Craft' is 'Entertainer'
NO craft rank
Specialties to use: Dancing, Dealer, Bouncer, Pillowcraft

OFFWORLDER INFORMATION

MILITARY STATUS:
The drop-down is pretty self-explanatory

RANK/TITLE:
For Military types check the section about ranks in the FSP Guide
For non-military types is the person a scientist/researcher/medical person? Dr. or PhD are suggestions...

DEPARTMENT:
This could be Communications, Xenobiology, Computer Tech, Quartermaster....
Ask a BoD or a member of the Persona Approval Squad if you aren't sure.

OTHER OPTIONAL

TIMELINE:
In this initial frenzy of shifting 'sheets' from the forum to Sparky here,
We are requesting that you insert the POSTING date on your 'sheet' in the forum here
so we can add that date as the character's 'approval' date; If you've been writing/playing
the particular character since before we shifted from The Gather Hall at yahoogroups to our current
forum an approximate Year and Month will do.

This is an optional field to help you keep track of the happenings in your character's life.
